The Mad River writing retreat made it into the acknowledgements for
my first published book that I wrote back when I first visited in
2023. It will definitely make the acknowledgments for my third book,
now in 2026

After weeks and months of inventing excuses not to write, reasoning why the time would be better spent somewhere else, I was grateful to find at the Mad River Retreat that all those distractions melted away. After looking back at the creative endeavors I got done at the retreat, I am counting the months until I can go back and do it again. Thanks so much to Robin for creating a place for fellow writers to rediscover their love of the craft.

Deep in the woods, beneath the trees

Is a snug tall house of big blue beams 

A charming spot to lay your head

For the holiday weekend 

The colorful foliage all around 

With autumnal carpet upon the ground 

Inside the home, a cozy fire 

With all the comforts you desire

Carrot soup and pumpkin bread,

Pillows and quilts upon the bed,

And in the quiet of the home,

Imagination can freely roam .

I am so grateful to Robin for hosting the Mad River Retreat and creating such a cozy, peaceful space to focus on our craft alongside fellow writers. This cabin is a truly magical place for me, and this year was no exception. For the first time, my mind was able to fully unlock its imagination and get lost in the story I am creating. Hands down, this was one of my favorite weekends of 2026!
